Center of Resilience Excellence South Carolina

Charleston County is part of an innovative consortium working to a) find solutions to South Carolina's resilience concerns, and b) bring a permanent NASA center to South Carolina. CORE SC researches, develops, creates, and implements solutions to resiliency challenges facing South Carolina. It is the nexus between local, state, federal, education, non-profit, industry, and military organizations that leads to actionable outcomes, improving community and societal resilience throughout South Carolina. CORE SC was established as an outgrowth of Charleston County's relationship with NASA.

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space and Administration)

For the past several years, Charleston County was host to several NASA events which included bringing NASA centers, South Carolina businesses, and industry organizations together for a business-to-business supplier summit and a week-long program of STEM activities for Charleston County students. As a result, Charleston County's unique partnership with NASA, regional partners, and local schools is generating economic opportunities for businesses and educational curiosity for students. Our most recent event with NASA, Countdown to Success: Supplier Summit & STEM Experience was held virtually on March 3, 2021.
